Corona-infected nursing home resident in her 90s dies in Stavanger

A fully vaccinated nursing home resident in her 90s who was infected with the coronavirus died on Sunday, Stavanger Municipality announced on Sunday.

“We got the news about the first death at a nursing home in Stavanger due to COVID-19,” health and welfare director Eli Karin Fosse in Stavanger Municipality told the newspaper Stavanger Aftenblad.

The woman was a patient in a nursing home and died on Sunday, August 29. Fosse says that her relatives have been notified.

“I want to express my condolences. This incident makes an impression on us and affects us all because it clearly emphasizes the seriousness of the situation we are still in. It is a reminder that the pandemic is not over,” she added.

In the outbreak of infection at Sunde nursing home, six residents and five employees have been diagnosed with COVID-19. This is the first time in two months that an infection outbreak has occurred at a nursing home in Stavanger, the newspaper noted.
