After a period of declining corona infection rates, a new increase is taking place in Denmark again.

The R-number has now risen to 1.1, according to an overview from the health authorities on Tuesday.

That means that an average of ten infected people passes on the virus to eleven other people. Last week, the R-number was 0.7, which indicated declining infection rates.

“The most important thing is that the hospitalization numbers are low,” Minister of Health Magnus Heunicke wrote on Twitter.

In the last 24 hours, 457 cases of corona infection were registered in Denmark, the highest daily number in the last 18 days, figures from the Statens Serum Institut (SS) showed on Tuesday.

The health authorities also registered six new deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of corona patients in Danish hospitals fell to 93.
