Harstad Municipality is introducing stricter measures and putting around 800 people in quarantine after a coronavirus outbreak at the fitness center Family Sports Club in Seljestad.
On Saturday, Harstad Municipality received confirmation of eight new corona cases. All eight people have been to the Family Sports Club fitness center, which has now been closed.
Everyone who has been to the fitness center between Monday afternoon and Friday is considered to be a close contact of infected people, and has to immediately go into quarantine for ten days, the Municipality warned on Saturday.
The National Institute of Public Health (FHI) has asked the Municipality to treat the outbreak as if the British mutation of the coronavirus was confirmed.
Stricter measures
Everyone who has been to the center this week outside the afternoon is asked to get tested as soon as possible and go into quarantine until they test themselves for corona and receive a negative answer.
The Municipality has chosen to introduce stricter measures after the outbreak. Indoors cultural, entertainment, and leisure activities have to close temporarily, but exceptions are made for top-level sports and organized activities for children and young people under the age of 20.
Alcohol serving is still allowed, but contact information for guests must be registered.
In effect until March 8
Working from home will also be required as far as practically possible. Face masks will be mandatory when a distance of one meter from other people cannot be kept in a public place.
The maximum of guests in homes and holiday homes has been set at five people, and a maximum of ten people can be present at the same time at private and public indoor events.
The measures came into force on the night before Sunday and will last until Monday, March 8.
