90% of the Norwegian population over the age of 18 have now been vaccinated with the first dose of the corona vaccine. By the end of Friday, 80% of the population will be fully vaccinated.

The two milestones are important for the further reopening of Norway. The authorities have said that they want 90% of the population to be fully vaccinated before they proceed with the reopening.

“The vaccine is the way out of the pandemic, and it is, therefore, fantastic to see Norwegians’ sky-high support for the vaccination program. Many thanks to everyone who has taken the vaccine, and many thanks to the municipalities for a formidable vaccination effort,” Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) told NTB.

The latest vaccine figures from the FHI were published on Friday morning. They show that 3,847,247 Norwegians over the age of 18 have received the first vaccine dose. That corresponds to 89.9% of the adult population. But during the day, the FHI confirmed that 90% had been reached.

The latest figures also show that 78.8% of the adult population has been vaccinated with two doses. It is expected that the share will reach 80% on Friday.

“Today, we reach three vaccine milestones: 90% of all adults have received at least one dose, 80% of all adults have received the second dose, and 70% of all 16- and 17-year-olds have received at least one dose,” Solberg said.
