Corona-year: There was less driving in Norway in 2020

More working from home and fewer trips led to the use of vehicles in Norway falling by 4.3% last year.

Norwegian vehicles traveled 43.6 billion kilometers on Norwegian and foreign roads last year. The mileage is the lowest calculated since 2011, Statistics Norway (SSB) informs.

The mileage for passenger cars fell by 4.6%. Buses had a decrease of 5.5%, and lorries had a decrease of 3.1%.

Although more people drove electric cars and hybrid cars, three out of four people in Norway still drive on diesel or petrol.
