At midnight on Tuesday, 13,005 coronavirus infections have been registered in Norway, preliminary figures show.

That is an increase of 108 cases in the last 24 hours.

In the last week, the total figure increased by 729 cases, according to figures from the National Reporting System for Infectious Diseases (MSIS).

Around 941,000 tests for the coronavirus have so far been carried out in Norway, according to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH/FHI).

As of Monday, a total of 23 people were receiving treatment in hospitals for COVID-19 – the highest number of hospitalizations since the beginning of June.

FHI has registered 267 coronavirus-related deaths in Norway since March.

However, the FHI also emphasized that it was not always possible to determine whether the patient infected with the virus has died of or with COVID-19.

According to figures from the Cause of Death Register, almost all patients in Norway who died after being infected with the coronavirus also had a chronic disease.
