Could be greater corona relief during May

With expanded capacity for corona testing, Minister of Health Bent Høie (Høyre) hopes that there will be greater relief of the measures during May.

“During May, we can probably get greater relief, but we cannot ease up until we have the systems in place and they work,” says Høie to questions from NTB at Wednesday’s press conference on the corona situation.

On Wednesday, the criteria for testing for corona changed so that anyone with symptoms can be tested.

“We have said that once we have got testing and tracking in place and it works, and we hope that will happen in May, it could mean further relief, and the probability is greater now,” said Bent Høie at Wednesday’s press conference.

However, he cannot promise that Norwegians can resume an ordinary social life at the very beginning.

“It’s incredibly important that people are extra careful about the basic things. That you are at home when you have symptoms, that you wash your hands, and adhere to the applicable distance rules. You should avoid being in larger groups where you risk infecting many or have no control over who is there. It is important to be extra careful about this, too,” he notes.
