The infection situation in Oslo is serious, according to the County Governor of Oslo and Viken.
As a result of the outbreak, the County Governor is now asking municipalities in the Oslo region to assess the need for local measures.
“The infection situation in Oslo is serious and has consequences for other municipalities in the housing and labor market region.
Oslo Municipality has introduced stricter measures to stop the spread of infection,” county medical officer Marianne Skjerven-Martinsen in Oslo and Viken wrote in an email to newspaper VG.
The County Governor also wants to ask municipalities in the Oslo region to assess the need for local measures, in light of the infection situation in Oslo, Skjerven-Martinsen added.
She pointed out that the municipality itself is its own infection control authority and can thus decide on its own measures.
However, national health authorities can launch measures that include several municipalities.
