County road 5418 by Bruvik on Osterøy outside Bergen must be closed for a month for repairs after a landslide on Thursday night.

The clean-up work starts on Monday, but the damage after the landslide is so great that the road will be closed for a long time to come, Vestland County Municipality stated.

First, the mountainside where the stones loosened must be cleaned up, and then the work of repairing the damage to the road can begin.

“The entire road disappeared in the avalanche, so there is no room to pass by. The road must be built from the ground up, and this will take at least four weeks,” Mariann Kråkenes, head of operations south of Vestland County Municipality, noted.

No one was injured when the landslide occurred on Thursday, but a bus passed the crash site just before a large boulder came loose on the mountainside.

The landslide then covered the road with large rocks and trees.
