For the first time, extremism directed at the authorities has appeared in the annual analysis by the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) about the terrorist threat in Denmark.
The phenomenon has, among other things, been connected with the corona pandemic. It refers to people who talk about the need to use violence against elected officials and others.
“Extremists use threats as part of their tools. Most of the threats are published on social media,” it is stated in the annual PET’s terrorist threat analysis.
However, the assessment of extremism directed at the authorities is fraught with uncertainty, as the threat developments are relatively new and have a short history in Denmark.
