A Danish vaccine professor believes that the elderly and those in nursing homes should have received the fourth vaccine dose as early as June.

Danish health authorities aim to start giving nursing home residents the fourth dose in mid-September.

That is far too late, according to Camilla Foged, a vaccine professor at the University of Copenhagen. She is also a vaccine adviser to the public health authorities.

A sharp increase in infections is expected in Denmark in the autumn when the weather gets colder.

In Norway, the government recommended that everyone over 75 get a new booster dose from July 1. Nursing home residents and people over 80 are given priority.
