Dave Prowse, the man behind Darth Vader's black mask in the Star Wars movies, is dead.
Dave Prowse, the man behind Darth Vader’s black mask in the Star Wars movies, is dead.
Prowse died on Saturday morning, aged 85, according to his agent Thomas Bowington.
Prowse grew up in a working-class neighborhood in Bristol, England. He first started with weightlifting before becoming an actor in Hollywood.
His impressive height of almost two meters secured the role of the villain Darth Vader for Prowse.
However, his strong accent led to Vader’s icy voice from behind the mask being conveyed by James Earl Jones instead.
