A rescue operation was launched on Saturday night after a diver failed to return to the boat outside Drøbak. On Sunday morning, a dead person was found.

“The Rescue coordination center has led the rescue operation… The discovery of a dead person was confirmed shortly after 11 o’clock,” operations manager Terje Skaftnes in the Eastern Police District told Amta on Sunday.

“It is reasonable to believe that this is the missing diver,” the operations manager added.

The police confirmed finding a dead person on Twitter. The rescue operation has now ended.

Transported to land

A lifeboat has transported the dead person to land, and the next of kin have been notified.

At 6:30 PM on Saturday, the emergency services were notified that a person was missing after diving in Drøbaksundet.

Several rescue crews were deployed, including rescue and police helicopters, which searched for the person until 5:30 on Sunday night. The search was resumed on Sunday morning.
