NATO will likely request more Norwegian resources for the purpose of supporting other Alliance countries, Minister of Defense Odd Roger Enoksen (SP) believes.

When asked by Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) whether more young Norwegian men and women in uniform must prepare to travel to NATO countries closer to Ukraine, he answered:

“It may happen. We are already present in Lithuania. We will strengthen that with 50-60 people who will travel during the weekend,” Enoksen said in Politisk kvarter on Friday.

NATO needs to make a request in order for more forces to be sent.

“It (note: the request) has not come yet, but the probability is absolutely present that it will happen. Then, we will have to make a national (level) decision. We must decide for ourselves whether we want to participate or not,” he said, emphasizing that the Storting will be consulted if that happens.
