Seventy people demonstrated against Avinor’s plans for a third runway at Oslo Airport. The area around the airport consists of important food soil, Greenpeace believes.

The demonstration started with a march from Elstad Gård on Mogreina in Ullensaker municipality, where Greenpeace has organized the Gardermoen climate camp this week. The camp is a mark against developing a third runway at the Oslo Airport.

Greenpeace believes the areas around the airport are made up of important food soil and unique nature, and that this is now in danger of being demolished.

“In addition, such a runway will lead to many more daily departures, which means a significant increase in greenhouse gas emissions,” Greenpeace said.

Appeals were made from leader Bjørn Berg in the interest organization No to the third runway, Hilja Løvvik from Oslo Nature and Youth, Anna Johansson from Swedish Flyglarm Arlanda and Åsne Mjelde Refsum from Upper Romerike Nature and Youth.
