Denmark is extending border control for some travelers from Sweden until May 2022. The reason is an ongoing threat from militant Islamists and organized crime.

The Danish government informed the EU of the decision at the end of last week, according to a letter signed by Minister of Justice Nick Hækkerup.

Border control was introduced in the autumn of 2019 as part of a security package focusing on organized crime. Not all travelers are checked.
