The Danish government is stepping up its military preparedness due to the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
An increased level of military preparedness means that fighter jets can be sent out from Bornholm, the government announced on Tuesday.
The government’s decision comes as a result of a recommendation from the Danish Defense Command. The Defense Ministry says it is happening as a result of the “unacceptable Russian military pressure on Ukraine.”
The measures include sharpening the preparedness level of the Danish combat battalion, which is involved in NATO’s preparedness.
The battalion will be assembled in Slagelse, and necessary warehouses will be built up. If that becomes operationally necessary, the Armed Forces will then be strengthened by placing two F-16 fighter jets at Bornholm.
Denmark has taken similar measures in the past when there has been increased Russian activity near Danish airspace.

Meanwhile, there seems to be a little progress, France’s Macron and Putin having discussed Ukraine becoming “neutral” like Finland (unofficially) is.
But very understandably after all our broken promises and our Kiev coup, the Russians want anything in writing – a formal, ironclad treaty – and Putin described the possibility of Russia going to real war with Macron’s France and the rest of NATO without it.
Meanwhile, we have said we don’t want the Russians (or Chinese) putting troops let alone missiles in *our* buffer states like Cuba, Venezuela, and now Nicaragua which has thrown off its neutrality agreed with a far wiser President Reagan.
And meanwhile – to the shock of the Russians-baiting British – Argentina is economically throwing in on China’s Silk Road, and China is now in apparent return supporting Argentina’s claim to the Falkland Islands aka Malvinas.
This indeed worsening world crisis was started by us – our neocon foreign policies and holocaust wars – not the East, and there has never been worse strategic imbecility in history, ever.
Meanwhile, the icecaps continue to melt paving the way to a boiling Earth, and we have alienated the other two nuclear superpowers whose cooperation about dealing with that and belatedly trying to save the very survival of Life itself is absolutely essential.
