Denmark lowers risk level – but not in Copenhagen

During the weekend, Danish authorities lowered the coronavirus risk level throughout the country. The exception is Copenhagen, which will remain at level 5, the highest level.

The other Danish regions have lowered the risk level to 4. This is the first time since January that the entire country is not at level 5, Minister of Health Magnus Heunicke wrote in a Twitter message.

The infection control measures were stepped up after the New Year when the British corona mutation caused concern all over Europe.

“We have a stable development of infection. We still see infection among society, but we quickly manage to put down local outbreaks when they occur,” Heunicke noted.

The government has been criticized recently for keeping the whole country at level 5, even though the spread of infection has been low in some regions.

However, the authorities have pointed out that the so-called B117 mutation is more contagious than the original virus.
