A Facebook group is trying to sabotage vaccination and testing efforts, the Danish Minister of Health wrote on Christmas.

Magnus Heunicke attacked corona groups on Facebook in a Facebook post on Christmas Day.

Heunicke reacted after the online newspaper POV International wrote how the “Digital Civil Disobedience” group encouraged people to book vaccination and testing appointments and then not show up. The group has over 1,500 members.

“This is completely destructive for Denmark’s efforts,” he warned.

It is not clear whether the attempted sabotage was successful.

A protest group

The Facebook group in question writes that it calls for a common fight aimed at reopening society.

The founder of the Facebook group in question, Kenneth Højmark Bæk, told Danish TV2 that group members booked appointments and deliberately haven’t shown up.

“I made this group because I have a child. She should not be left to a future where you have to be forcibly vaccinated twice a year,” Højmark Bæk said.

It is not mandatory to take the vaccine in Denmark, but the group founder says that the population is pressured to take the vaccine.

Anti-virus efforts

Heunicke noted that the vaccination and testing efforts have contributed to Denmark having fewer deaths in the pandemic compared with other countries.

“The selfishness and conspiracy theories of a few people should not be allowed to destroy Denmark’s efforts, which have taken us so far in this difficult time,” Heunicke wrote.

Heunicke told POV that the government would, if necessary, take action against such groups. He did not specify what kind of action the government could take against such groups.
