Ullensvang Municipality imposed a lockdown on Tuesday after several coronavirus infection cases with an unknown route of infection were detected. The outbreak is linked to the British virus variant.

“We expect that the number of infection cases will increase,” Mayor Roald Aga Haug (AP) told the newspaper Dagbladet.

On Tuesday, the Municipality registered 12 cases of infection in a new outbreak. One case has been confirmed as a case of the British virus variant.

A total of 270 people have been tested for the coronavirus in the last couple of days (11,000 people live in Ullensvang).

“Most people will probably get a negative test result, but since this is probably the British variant, there is still uncertainty associated with the situation. That worries us,” Haug said.
