The Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries’ control of fishing gear off the Bergen coast resulted in 52 reports.

Between May 1 and May 5, the Directorate of Fisheries, the police, the Coast Guard, and the Norwegian Environmental Protection Agency (SNO) carried out joint inspections in several places on the coast outside Bergen.

“We hope that such controls will contribute to those who are out fishing becoming better at fishing in line with the regulations,” the Directorate of Fisheries noted in a press release.

During the inspection days, 103 different tools were seized. Many of the seized fishing tools were affected by having been in the sea for some time, and many were still used.
