12% of girls in upper secondary school have been pressured or forced into sexual acts or intercourse, according to a new survey.

In addition, 3% of boys answered the same in the 2022 Youth Data Survey, the Sex og Politikk association wrote in a press release.

The report also reveals that 20% of girls and 8% of boys have experienced involuntary sexual contact.

“On a national basis, 9.4% of women and 1.1% of men experience rape during their lifetime. Such high figures for sexual abuse at such an early stage in life are disturbing,” senior advisor at Sex og Politikk, Vilde Graff Senje, said.

The association states that they have long warned that sex education must be prioritized to ensure that children and young people receive training in boundaries, relationships, and consent.
