Former US President Donald Trump has been acquitted in the impeachment case.

Trump was accused of inciting riots on January 6, when Congress was stormed by angry Trump supporters.

The unrest happened after weeks of Trump’s claims that the elections were “stolen” and that Joe Biden was not the rightful election winner.

Trump is the first president in US history to be tried for impeachment twice. He was acquitted in an impeachment case last year.

He is also the first president to be indicted for impeachment after leaving the White House.

“Biggest witch hunt in history”

Trump thanked his lawyers after he was acquitted.

The former president, who has been banned on social media platforms, issued a written statement.

In the statement, he called the impeachment case “a new chapter in the biggest witch hunt in history.”

“No president has had to go through something like this, and it continues because our opponents cannot forget the nearly 75 million people who voted for us just a few months ago,” Trump wrote.

“Our historical, patriotic, and beautiful movement to make the United States great again has just begun.

“In the months ahead, I have much to share with you, and I look forward to continuing our journey to achieve American greatness for all of our people. There has never been anything like this,” Trump noted.
