Don’t be afraid to see your GP or go to hospital

Many do not show up at the agreed time at the GP surgeries due to fear of infection. Now the health authorities assure us that it is still safe to seek health care.

– We see that there are some patients who do not show up at the appointed time or who do not go to their GP, says Health Minister Bent Høie (H).

He is asking everyone who needs health care to see their GP as usual.

“If in doubt, you can call and speak in advance,” he says.

He emphasizes that good health care is still being given to anyone who is not infected by the coronavirus.

Høje receives support from the Directorate of Health, who is also urgently asking everyone who needs health care to seek it out.

– One should not be afraid of being infected at the hospital or at the GP. Very strict infection control measures have been put in place to prevent this, so there is no need to be anxious about it, says Deputy Health Director Espen Nakstad.
