E6 was closed for a period in the southerly direction after a collision between a car and an elk on E6 south of Kløfta on Friday morning. One person was seriously injured in the accident, according to police.

The accident happened on the E6 at Grankrysset on Lindeberg just before 6 o’clock on Friday morning.

Operations Manager Tom Sandberg in the Eastern Police District told news bureau NTB that a person was seriously injured.

Two cars and an elk were involved in the accident.

According to the operations manager, one car drove into the elk before the other car drove into it from behind. The elk died on the spot.

Traffic interrupted

“The police, an ambulance, and the fire brigade are on site. In addition, the elk will be removed from the road,” Sandberg said.

Both lanes were closed for a period after the accident, but at 6:30 PM, the left lane was opened.

Half an hour later, both lanes towards Oslo were opened.

The Eastern Police District stated that a motorist who drove past the accident site filmed it with his mobile phone.

He was stopped by the police and fined.

“He refused to accept the fine and is being reported,” the Eastern Police District wrote on Twitter.
