The Norwegian Public Roads Administration announced that challenging driving conditions and closed roads are expected in several parts of the country on Wednesday and Thursday during the extreme weather event named Gyda.

Wind, mild weather, and a lot of precipitation could lead to floods and avalanches in Rogaland, Vestland, Møre og Romsdal, northern parts of Innlandet and Ofoten in Nordland up to Thursday, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration wrote in a press release.

That could lead to very difficult driving conditions and closed roads.

Nils Karbø, director of the traffic management and emergency preparedness department at the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, asks people to pay close attention to information about the weather and traffic situation.

“People should really consider whether they need to use their cars (note: during the extreme weather),” Karbø said.
