The new corona variant omicron was present in the Netherlands as early as November 19, according to the country’s health authorities.

The National Institute of Public Health (RIVM) announced on Tuesday that the variant was found in two COVID-19 tests taken in the Netherlands on November 19 and 23.

The country is in the process of testing several older corona samples for the variant to see how far the infection has spread.
