EFO: Energy efficiency efforts could free up more energy in Norway than wind power creates

The electrical association EFO asked the Norwegian authorities to do more to make buildings more energy-efficient. The efforts could free up more energy than Norwegian wind power creates, they believe.

The NHO organization states that profitable energy efficiency in Norwegian buildings could release 13 terawatt-hours of energy. In total, Norwegian wind power created around 10 terawatt-hours in 2020.

“It is high time that politicians get more focus on unleashing the potential of energy efficiency in buildings,” business policy director at EFO Per Øyvind Voie said.

The figures come from a report carried out by the consulting company Thema Consulting for the Interest Group for Energy Efficiency, which is supported by the NHO associations EFO and Nelfo.

The report was handed over to the Minister of Local Government and Modernization Nikolai Astrup on Friday.
