Out of the 393 corona patients admitted to the intensive care unit in Norwegian hospitals, 83 people died, according to P4. That amounts to 21% of the patients.

The figures were confirmed by the National Institute of Public Health (FHI). Health director Bjørn Guldvog is pleased that eight out of ten intensive care patients survived.

“It is a very high number internationally, and that means that we have very good professional environments that provide treatment to those who are seriously ill,” he told P4.

FHI chief Camilla Stoltenberg points out that several things affect whether the treatment is successful.

“It is the quality of the treatment itself that is crucial,” she noted.
