An employee in Denmark’s Capital Region has died after being admitted with severe symptoms after taking the AstraZeneca vaccine, newspaper Ekstra Bladet reports.

According to the newspaper, two employees were admitted with severe symptoms within 14 days of taking the vaccine.

“The Capital Region of Denmark can confirm that two of our employees have been admitted with symptoms of blood clots in the brain and cerebral hemorrhage, respectively. One has unfortunately passed away,” the health region wrote to the newspaper.

Both cases have been reported to the Danish Medicines Agency for further investigations.

It has not been confirmed that there is a connection between the blood clot cases and the vaccine.

The use of the AstraZeneca vaccine has been put on hold in Denmark following cases of blood clots among those vaccinated in several countries.

On Thursday, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) concluded that the AstraZeneca vaccine is safe.
