Enoksen comments on Stoltenberg’s upcoming NATO resignation, says there is a desire for continuity
This autumn, Jens Stoltenberg will resign as NATO Secretary-General.
Minister of Defense Odd Roger Enoksen (SP) was asked to comment on Jens Stoltenberg’s resignation as NATO Secretary-General when he met with the press in Brussels on Wednesday morning.
Stoltenberg will hold the position until September 30.
When asked whether NATO colleagues said that they wanted Stoltenberg to continue in the role of Secretary-General, Enoksen answered:
“I would be surprised if there was no desire (for continuity and stability) in the situation we are in,” Enoksen said.
“But it’s up to Jens Stoltenberg. He has said ‘yes’ to a new job.”
“Jens Stoltenberg has done a fantastic job as Secretary-General of NATO, and we are in a demanding situation now. But I do not want to speculate about who will be his successor,” Enoksen added.
