Equinor has agreed with its Russian partner, Rosneft, to cut emissions from its oil and gas production in Russia.

The news agency Reuters writes that the companies will cut emissions of the greenhouse gases CO2 and methane, including the gas emissions that come as a side effect of production.

The goal is for the burning of gas at the production sites to end by 2030.

In addition, the companies will look at the possibilities of building wind power plants and other alternative energy sources around the oil and gas plants, as well as solutions for carbon storage.

The two companies work together on the oil and gas field Komsomolskoje.
