Despite promises to end the connection between PR and politics, Minister of Finance Trygve Slagsvold Vedum (SP) will get former Equinor lobbyist Lotte Grepp Knutsen as state secretary.

According to the newspaper VG, State Secretary Lotte Grepp Knutsen (AP) worked one year as a PR consultant in Apeland in Oslo from 2018 to 2019 and previously held a management position in the PR agency JKL for three years in the 2000s – between two jobs in politics.

Most recently, she worked as a lobbyist for Equinor.

Vedum has strongly opposed PR people going into politics and vice versa a number of times. To VG, however, he emphasized that he has not broken his own principle, as that it has been more than a year since Knutsen worked in the PR industry.

At the same time, he promised that he would ensure that there were no conflicts of interest related to Knutsen.

Knutsen has a background from the red-green government of Jens Stoltenberg (2005–2013). She was also a political adviser to the Labor Party in Oslo from 2001 to 2005.
