Prime Minister Erna Solberg (Høyre) will visit Brussels on Tuesday to meet the EU’s new leaders. There, among other things, she will address the migration pressure along the EU’s border with Turkey.

This autumn, a whole new team of leaders came into place in Brussels. Several of them are on Solberg’s visit list when she comes to the EU capital, including EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU Parliament President David Sassoli.

In addition, the Prime Minister will have talks with EU Brexit Chief Michel Barnier and discuss the sustainability goals with a group of representatives from the European Parliament.

Among the topics she will address in the meetings are the concern for increased migration pressure at Turkey’s borders with Greece and Bulgaria as a result of the war in Syria.

“It is important for us to hear how they think and what they need, because we are in Schengen together,” says Solberg to NTB.

She nevertheless maintains that Europe and Norway are better prepared today than during the migration crisis in 2015.
