Former police officer Eirik Jensen (62) has been sentenced in Borgarting Court of Appeal to 21 years in prison for gross corruption and complicity in the import of hashish.

This is the same penalty Jensen received in the Oslo District Court in September 2017.

Jensen appealed his case and the appeal started in Borgarting Court of Appeal on August 28, 2018 as the last jury case in Norway. In January last year, he was found guilty of serious corruption by the jury but acquitted of complicity in the import of hashish.

The professional judges set aside the jury’s verdict, which meant that the entire case had to be re-examined in the Court of Appeal.

The appeal round began on November 6 last year and the case was taken up for sentencing on March 27 this year.

The judgment is in accordance with the prosecutor’s claim.
