An excavator operator died in a demolition accident at E16 between Bagn and Bjørgo in Valdres Monday afternoon.
The accident occurred at Klossbøle in connection with work on a new E16-pathways.
– The excavator was to spike the area, ie to clean the tunnel wall of stone after the demolition work. The excavator has probably hit an explosive charge which had been left inside the wall, said operations manager Børge Neck in South-East police.
The excavator got sprayed with a great number of stones, which hit the “house. The excavator operator was killed on the spot, he said.
The project leader of the NPRA, Anne Brit Moen, says they will assist the police.
– The police are investigating the accident and the investigation will reveal exactly what has happened, Moen says in a statement.
