Extreme rain forecasted for Western Norway

Extremely heavy rain has been forecasted for Western Norway on Wednesday, with the risk of floods and landslides. People are asked to refrain from driving in northern and inner Hordaland.

 

Up to 60 millimeters of rain is expected in a matter of hours.

– In the afternoon and evening it can locally get to 40- 60 millimeters within 6 hours. Watch the weather radar and look for updated information on varsom.no, the forecasts from Yr state.

The forecast applies from Boknafjorden in the south to Sognefjorden in the north.

– During the day we expect surface water flooding and danger of both landslides and debris flows,   meteorologist on duty at the weather forecast in western Norway, Tone Kristin Taule,  said to NRK news.

The meteorologist asking people who do not absolutely have to do so, not to travel on the roads in the interior and northern areas of the county.
