For another week, it is recommended to use a face mask on public transportation in Oslo where you can not keep at least one meter away.

On 14 August, the government decided to recommend the use of face masks on public transport when it is not possible to keep one meter away from other passengers in Oslo and Indre Østfold. Now the recommendation has been extended for Oslo for another week, but not in Indre Østfold.

– In the residential and working regions of Indre Østfold with the municipalities Indre Østfold, Rakkestad, Skiptvet and Marker, the infection situation has almost normalized. FHI and the Norwegian Directorate of Health have therefore considered that the advice on face mask use in this region can be lifted, FHI writes in a press release.

FHI and the Norwegian Directorate of Health have also assessed the situation in Bergen, but believe that it is not necessary to give a recommendation on face mask use there because the outbreak appears to be limited and the infection pressure does not appear to be increasing in the general population.

– “Distance is still the most important factor in preventing infection. Face mask does not replace other infection control measures,” emphasizes Line Vold at the National Institute of Public Health.

  1. If the Norwegian government had stick to the plan of keeping the international borders closed. Than we would not have over 10000 people with COVID-19. The government still have time to close the International border otherwise things will get worst. Just wait till the winter season comes than the virus will spread faster than the summer season.
