Four corona-related deaths were reported to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) last week. That is the lowest number since week 44 in October.

The decline is in line with the downward trend in reported corona cases among the oldest age groups, according to the FHI’s weekly report.

“This may be an early sign that the elderly have received protection after vaccination. However, it may also be an effect of other infection control measures,” the FHI noted.

A total of 632 corona-related deaths have been reported to the FHI. The age group with the most deaths is people who are 80–89 years old.

A total of 53% of all deaths occurred among men. The FHI emphasized that it is not always possible to know whether the patient has died of or with COVID-19.
