The number of infection cases in Norway is constantly increasing, and fewer people are getting tested. The FHI believes that only half of the corona cases are registered.

Preben Aavitsland at the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) says that they estimate that only about half of the cases of infection are registered.

He emphasizes that this will only become a serious problem if the infected people contribute to the spread of infection among the elderly or others in the risk groups who may become seriously ill.

In the future, the FHI will closely monitor the admission and death rates.

“It is these figures that we must focus on in order to assess the situation and the need to curb the epidemic with new measures,” he said.

The coming winter and the possibility of the flu in addition to COVID-19 may make the situation worse.
