FHI: Record number of corona cases registered in Norway in week 45

The FHI’s weekly report for week 45 shows that the number of corona cases increased by 20%.

A total of 11,773 corona cases were reported in week 45, an increase of 20% since week 44, and a new record, according to the National Institute of Public Health (FHI).

A total of 38 corona-related deaths were registered in week 45, which is the highest weekly number in the whole of 2021. So far, 158 new corona patients were registered as hospitalized in week 45, compared with 144 the week before.

The R number is estimated at 1.3. The epidemic continues to increase in scope, especially among unvaccinated children and adolescents, who become seriously ill to a small degree. At the same time, more older Norwegians are also getting infected.
