FHI: Two new omikron cases confirmed in Norway – the infected people are travelers from South Africa

The omicron variant of the coronavirus has been confirmed in two people who have flown to Gardermoen from South Africa, the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) announced on Wednesday. 

These cases have been reported are in addition to the two people infected with the omicron variant in Øygarden Municipality.

Both people are isolated in quarantine hotels and are followed up by the municipal services. They have mild symptoms.

On Monday, the government introduced several new measures related to this new virus variant. Among other things, the isolation period has been extended to seven days for people who test positive for corona and who may be infected with omicron. In addition, their household members and other close persons must be quarantined for ten days.
