The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) re-affirmed its recommendation of face mask use on public transport in Oslo when it is impossible to distance one meter from others.

The FHI also supported the recommendation in Bergen.

The recommendation for Oslo applies for an additional week, FHI noted on its website.

Earlier this week, Bergen City Council decided to recommend the use of face masks as one of several measures devised to stop the spread of infection in the city.

The measures in Bergen were prepared in consultation with the FHI.

The FHI further noted that it does not believe it is necessary to make a similar recommendation for the use of face masks on public transport in Sarpsborg and Fredrikstad because the outbreak there is considered to be limited, and the pressure of infection does not appear to be increasing among the general population.
