The Public Health Institute (FHI) is planning analyzes of total mortality and what people have died from during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The project has the working title «Mortality analyzes Covid-19», says Knut-Inge Klepp, director of mental and physical health in FHI to Bergens Tidende.

Among what FHI wants to answer is whether fewer have died from other infectious diseases or for other causes during the virus outbreak. The results will be used to strengthen the understanding of the health consequences of such an outbreak in the population.

So far, the number of Coronavirus deaths is too low in relation to the number of deaths normal for the period to be able to determine if possible mortality and causes of death can be linked to conditions during the Coronavirus outbreak.
