An unknown number of people were fighting on Saturday night to Sunday in a mass brawl in the city center. No one was injured in the battle that was quickly stopped by the police.

“We quickly realised that there were two groups. We therefore took key players from both sides to control the event,’’ said Operations Manager Karl-Erik Thomassen of Troms Police District to NTB news.

“We quickly got control of the site, but it took some time to gather what had actually happened,” he said. The Operations Manager did not want to go into what was the reason for the brawl, but said that it was gang related.

The police were notified of the fighting in Storgata at 02.45.

Those involved were men and women aged 18 to 26 years. Nobody was arrested. Those who were brought to the police station were released on Sunday morning.
