Three boys in their teens have been convicted of abusing a boy of the same age to death in Helsinki in December last year.

On Friday, the boys were sentenced to ten, nine, and eight years in prison in Helsinki District Court.

The penalty is somewhat lower than the plaintiff’s claim for all three, Finnish Yle reports.

The murder took place in a hospital area in Forsby in Helsinki. According to the district court, the convicted teenagers allegedly understood that the boy would die from the abuse, which lasted for over three hours.

All the boys were born in 2004. They pleaded not guilty to murder, but two of them admitted to inflicting grievous bodily harm resulting in death. The third boy has only pleaded guilty to the abuse.
