Finnish President Sauli Niinistö has tested positive for the coronavirus. He will postpone his state visit to Norway.

Niinistö was supposed to visit Norway on Thursday and Friday, but the visit will be postponed, according to Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

Niinistö was supposed to meet, among others, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (AP) and Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt (AP). The agenda for the trip to Norway should have, among other things, included the security policy situation in Europe.

A statement from Niinistö’s office said that he was feeling well, despite a positive COVID-19 test – and that he would continue his work from home.
