Fire breaks out in refugee housing in Åndalsnes, 34 people evacuated

Large resources from the entire district are working on putting out a fire take broke out in refugee housing in Åndalsnes in Rauma municipality. 

Several people are injured, according to preliminary information.

“34 people have been evacuated from the place,” the Police in Møre og Romsdal tweeted at 10:30 AM.

Some of the evacuees are said to have been burnt and affected by smoke, the police wrote. 

Luckily, no one has life-threatening injuries.

Ambulance helicopters on the way

The fire service was notified of the fire in Teglverksveien at 9:28 AM. 

The fire brigades from several neighboring municipalities have been called in to help with putting out the fire.

Several ambulance helicopters are on their way to the area.

The housing hosts refugee homes, mayor Yvonne Wold in Rauma municipality informed Rbnett.

The fire has led to delays in train traffic on the line between Dombås and Åndalsnes, Bane Nor wrote on its website.
