Five Polish men, three of whom turned out to be infected, have been fined NOK 10,000 for failing to take a coronavirus test when they arrived in Norway on January 4.

The five crossed the border at Svinesund before traveling to Sande Municipality, the Møre og Romsdal Police District wrote in a press release.

The Municipality’s infection detection team identified the breach on January 12.

“This case is a clear illustration of how important it is that the test is carried out within the set deadline. It turned out that three of the five were infected,” Tom Berntsen said.

The five have received translated versions of the fine but have not taken a position on whether they will accept the fines.
