Five orphans were picked up from al-Hol camp in Sria this summer. The flight cost NOK 1.8 million, according to Vårt Land.

The five are children of an ethnic Norwegian woman and an African man. The mother is thought to have disappeared, while the father is presumed dead. They both traveled to Syria to join IS, according to the newspaper.

For the sake of the children’s health and safety, a SAS aircraft was utilized to take the children to Norway. The aircraft was requisitioned through the Armed Forces.

It is estimated that there are 35 Norwegian children with Norwegian connections in Syria.
